Product and
Usage Guide
Here you'll find information on the various categories that we
stock, such as what they're for and how they're used. If there's a
product-related question that isn't covered here, e-mail at
customerservice sexytoybox.com.au we'll include
it.
Topics covered
include:
Soft jelly or silicone-coated
vibrators, usually with metal or plastic rotating beads around the shaft
and a clitoral stimulator near the base. Deluxe vibrators have more
features and more power than regular vibes, and usually perform multiple
functions at once to deliver all over stimulation. While not all of
them have the features above (some have no beads but a flexible shaft)
they all have multiple stimulators and functions. Beads can be
synchronized, meaning that the whole set rotates as a whole and will never
jam, or they can be staggered and move separately. Pearls are
similar to beads but are generally not set in place, simply clustered
around the shaft itself, and tend to be less defined than beads.
All deluxe vibrators have a clitoral stimulator, which is usually in
the form of a cute animal. These vibrate against the clitoris and
stimulate externally, while the shaft of the vibrator is producing
internal stimulation. Each part of a deluxe vibrator tends to be able
to be controlled independently, with shaft rotation, shaft vibration and
clitoral stimulator vibration able to be cycled through various speeds,
patterns and functions, making these vibrators worthy of their title of
'deluxe'. There are a huge range of deluxe vibrators and it
would be impossible to describe them all here. They all vary in
strength, functions, price and cuteness, so the best way to get a good
idea of the many features available in these toys is to have a
look!
To get the most out of
your toy, Sexy Toy Box recommends: - use plenty of lubricant - use a
toy cleaner - clean all toys thoroughly with toy cleaner after use,
paying particular attention to any material cords, and store in a dry,
breathable bag such as a pillow case, shirt or other breathable
fabric - an arousal gel applied to the clitoris will help to increase
sensations from the clitoral stimulator - 'waterproof' toys should not
necessarily be submerged. Obviously solid toys with no electronic
components should be fine, but as a general rule 'waterproof' refers to a
toy as being able to be used in the shower or cleaned with water, not used
underwater. Unless otherwise stated, deluxe vibrators are not
waterproof in any sense - remove batteries after use to prevent them
from going flat or leaking
These are soft vibrators which
usually have vertebrae down the shaft, allowing them to be bent to various
angles and stay there, giving very targeted stimulation in just the right
spots. There are some exceptions to this, but on the whole bendable
vibrators are of this type. They come in a range of colours, sizes
and styles, are usually very cute and colourful, and often have raised
nodules or even clitoral stimulators attached. Bendable vibes are
very versatile, so you can directly stimulate the G-spot, while still
having a vibrator that can be used straight.
To get the most out of
your toy, Sexy Toy Box recommends: - use plenty of lubricant, as some
jellies can be slightly 'grippy' on their own - use a toy cleaner, as
this will break down any bacteria or residue on the toy and help to
prevent infections from occurring - batteries should be removed from
toys after use, to prevent flattening and possible leakage of the
batteries - clean all toys thoroughly with toy cleaner after use, and
store in a dry, breathable bag such as a pillow case, shirt or other
breathable fabric - 'waterproof' toys should not necessarily be
submerged. Obviously solid toys with no electronic components should
be fine, but as a general rule 'waterproof' refers to a toy as being able
to be used in the shower or cleaned with water, not used
underwater
Compact, affordable vibrators,
usually with a hard plastic case and generally between 3 and 5 inches in
length. Like larger vibrators, mini-vibes come in all different
finishes, with soft, hard, textured and untextured varieties all
available. Mini-vibes are quite common joke presents, and while some
of them are made specifically for this purpose, many of them are intended
to be used as proper vibrators which are compact enough to carry around
with you. In addition, they are often the starting place for people
who want to buy a vibrator, but can't justify spending money on a
mid-range toy if they're still uncertain about whether they'll enjoy
them. That said, most people who buy a mini-vibe will upgrade to a
larger vibrator in the future. Mini-vibes can be used internally or
externally, again helping people decide whether they enjoy clitoral
vibration and internal stimulation, letting them know what to look for in
their next purchase.

There are hundreds of types of
soft (sometimes referred to as 'Jelly') vibes to choose from - they come
in a huge range of softnesses, colours, sizes, textures, shapes, and
levels of realism. The softness of these vibrators ranges from
incredibly soft real-skin materials to firm jelly with just a bit of
give. Soft vibes can be coated in jelly, silicone, latex, or various
real-skin materials:
Jelly: A special type of
intimate rubber that coats a hardcased vibrator or bullet. Firmness
varies from very soft to very firm. While quite easy to clean,
jellies tend to be more porous than other materials and will require a bit
more attention when cleaning. Silicone: Can be incredibly
soft or firm, but usually more towards the firm side. Silicone toys
are less porous, making them more hygienic. Latex: Soft and non-porous,
but not commonly encountered. Some people are allergic to latex, so
of course these toys are not suited to them. Real-Skin: Many varieties of
real skin exist, usually each major company has its own brand.
Popular types of real skin used in soft vibrators include Cyberskin, UR3,
Life-Like, Better-than-real and Futurotic. They feel, and usually
look, quite realistic.
Soft vibrators span a large price range,
available from as little as $16.95 to over $50. Depending on the
model chosen, a mixture of vibration, pulsation and escalation speeds are
possible, as well as gyrating models. Gyration refers to more
pronounced vibrations that cause the toy to visibly move.
A few
recommendations from Sexy Toy Box to help you get the most our of your
vibes: - batteries should be removed from vibrating toys after use, to
prevent flattening and possible leakage of the batteries - clean all
toys thoroughly with toy cleaner after use, and store in a dry, breathable
bag such as a pillow case, shirt or other breathable fabric. Do not
use alcohol-based toy cleaners on real-skin vibrators, as they may damage
the material - Toys labeled as 'waterproof' can be used in the shower
or cleaned with water, but not submerged
Your standard vibrator;
simple, easy to clean, and with a hard case that's usually made of
plastic. These are usually the starting point for people who are
looking to buy their first vibrator because they are non-threatening and
well-priced. Because these toys are non-porous (being plastic) they
don't readily absorb body fluids or lubricants, making them relatively
hygienic to use and store. Although their design is quite
simplistic, there are many high-quality hardcased vibrators that have
variable speeds and functions, targeted to people who are after a simple,
reliable, straight vibrator. In addition to the straight types, it
is also possible to get hardcased vibrators that are tapered, have a
scooped tip, a G-spot curve, or a gyrating (more pronounced shaking)
motion. Hardcased vibrators are available in a huge range of
colours, textures, sizes and shapes, and are generally made of plastic but
can be metal, too.
To get the most out of your toy, Sexy Toy Box
recommends: - use plenty of lubricant, as it will make the whole
experience more enjoyable and comfortable - clean all toys thoroughly
with toy cleaner after use, and store in a dry, breathable bag such as a
pillow case, shirt or other breathable fabric - both alcohol and
non-alcohol-based toy cleaners are fine to use with hardcased
vibrators - remove batteries after use to avoid them going flat or
possibly leaking - do not use toys in the shower if they are not
labeled as waterproof, and do not submerge toys in water even if they are
labeled as waterproof
Vibrators - Double Penetrators
Essentially a vibrator with
two penetrators, usually penis-shaped or similar, that are used for
simultaneous vaginal and anal penetration. Generally made of soft
jelly or silicone, with a beaded anal penetrator, forming slanted Y-shape,
with the controls of a normal vibrator. Usually double penetrators
are not independently controlled - the toy is a single vibrating unit,
with a vibrating bullet located at the base of the two penetrators.
Speed control is usually by a dial on the bottom. Unless you are
really good at multi-tasking, these toys are the best way to give yourself
double penetration.
To get the most out of your toy, Sexy Toy Box
recommends: - use plenty of lubricant, as it will make the whole
experience more enjoyable and comfortable - do not transfer between
penetrators; use the anal one solely for anal and the vaginal one solely
for vaginal, as swapping back and forth is very unhygienic and can result
in illnesses and infections - clean all toys thoroughly with toy
cleaner after use, and store in a dry, breathable bag such as a pillow
case, shirt or other breathable fabric - use a toy cleaner before the
first use, and immediately after each use - remove batteries after use
to avoid them going flat or possibly leaking - follow the same safety
and usage tips as for anal toys
Dongs and dildos are the same
thing, and both names are equally right (although 'dildo' tends to get
more of a laugh). They vary from vibrators in that they are
generally non-vibrating, and are used more for penetrative stimulation
than for vibrational stimulation. Some dongs do vibrate, however,
and are distinguished from vibrators in that their battery pack is
separate to the actual dong, and connected by a cord.
Dongs
are generally penis-shaped, and are available in a huge array of
materials, including silicone, jelly, real-skin materials, Silagel, glass
and more. They vary hugely in shape, with small, 18-inch,
double-ended, realistic and fetish dongs all quite common. The range
of colours and textures vary widely too, so the range of dongs to choose
from is virtually endless. Many dongs also have a suction cup on the
base, allowing them to stuck to almost any smooth, clean surface - the
bathtub, shower wall, chairs, walls, anything! Because of the very
nature of dongs, they are by far the best type of female toy for
simulating intercourse - there are so many available that you can choose
the perfect type for you, they stimulate directly through penetration, and
there are no wires or batteries to worry about.
The fantastic thing
about completely non-vibrating dongs is that they are completely
waterproof. You can use them in the shower or bath, and they are
simple to clean because they can be fully submerged in water, unlike
almost all vibrators (even waterproof vibrators generally aren't submergable, but they can be used in the
shower). Most often, the largest toys will be dongs. These
are generally 'challenge' toys, such as ultra-large penises and fetish
toys.
To help explain the various types of dongs in more detail,
we've broken them up into subcategories:
Regular Dongs: The most
common type of dong, as described above.
Double Dongs: Dongs
with two penetrative ends, which are often penis-shaped but can quite
often be probes or other shapes. Usually longer than regular dongs,
double dongs can be U-shaped, straight, or bendable. The U-shaped
varieties are best for double penetration, while straight double dongs are
great for use between lesbian partners simultaneously, and generally allow
some degree of flexibility, although they are commonly used as an
extra-long dong, and sometimes have different sized heads on each end for
this purpose. Bendable double dongs can generally be used for all of
the above uses. Most often made of jelly, and some double dongs have
removable vibrating bullets in them for additional stimulation if
desired.
Strap-on: Sometimes
simply referred to as 'strap-ons'. These are described in the 'Strap-ons' section of this document.
Glass Dongs: Can be both
single or double dongs, in a variety of shapes, colours and
textures. Glass dongs are often more luxurious toys, very smooth,
almost unbreakable, usually elaborately textured, and quite
decorative. Unlike most dongs, glass dongs are hard and therefore
give different sensations. Glass by nature is non-porous, so they're
easier to clean than any other material and won't absorb lubricants or
fluids of any kind. To sterilize, they can simply be boiled in water
for several minutes. One of the niftiest things about glass dongs is
that they can easily have their temperature changed - by putting them in
cold or icy water their temperature drops (and holds for quite a while),
and they can be warmed up with warm water (not in the oven!).
This gives different sensations than using the toy at regular
temperatures, but we must stress to check the temperature of the toy on a
more sensitive area before use if you choose to warm it, as the genitals
are more temperature-sensitive than most regions. Most glass toys
are made from borosilicate glass (commercially known as Pyrex) and are
durable, resistant to chipping, breaking and shape changes. Put
simply, they'll last for years.
If you're looking to try your
first dong, or even if you're simply looking for a well-priced, high
quality toy, we recommend trying one of the dongs from the Radiant Gems range. They're made from
hygienically superior material, well-sized, well-priced and come in a huge
range of shapes (we stock 10 different models!).
To get the most
out of your toy, Sexy Toy Box recommends: - use plenty of lubricant, as
it will make the whole experience more enjoyable and comfortable -
clean all toys thoroughly with toy cleaner after use, and store in a dry,
breathable bag such as a pillow case, shirt or other breathable
cotton - use a toy cleaner, but for real-skin materials only
non-alcohol-based toy cleaners should be used to avoid damaging the
material - if a dong has a bullet or other battery-operated unit,
remove batteries after use to avoid them going flat or possibly
leaking - it is recommended not to share toys where possible to avoid
exchange of bodily fluids, although simultaneous use of a double dong
would not normally be an issue here. Nonetheless, using a condom
over the end of a dong is recommended if you absolutely must share toys,
as it can be changed over between users
Like vibrators, strap-ons come
in a wide range of colours, sizes, shapes and materials. Some
vibrate and some don't, while some are made to be worn by females and
others are made to be worn by males. In addition, some strap-ons
also have vaginal and/or anal plugs, so the wearer gets the feeling of
penetration with every thrust as well. Many types of people use
strap-ons, ranging from lesbians, to men who enjoy being penetrated by
their female partner, to men with difficulties maintaining an
erection. For men who feel that they climax too soon, male strap-ons
allow them to give their partner longer periods of intercourse without the
worry of climaxing early. Generally, strap-ons consist of a
harness and an attachment, the former of which are usually stretchy or
adjustable to ensure than they'll fit almost any wearer. Some
harnesses allow the replacement of the dong with various other ones,
whether they are manufactured by the same company or any commercial dong
can be used depends on the manufacturer. In addition, some strap-ons
come with an additional length of harness to allow it to fit larger
people, although the harnesses are usually able to accommodate fairly
large sizes already.
A few cautions on the use of strap-ons: -
use plenty of lubricant. Because the wearer isn't able accurately
gauge the amount of friction being felt by their partner, it is best to
use more lubricant rather than less. Water based lubricants are
fine, as are silicone ones. - be gentle, and communicate well.
Again, because the wearer doesn't experience the exact sensations of
traditional sex, it is harder to judge when they are pushing to
hard. Start out slowly, and maybe let your partner control the
action until you both get used to it - batteries should be removed from
vibrating toys after use, to prevent flattening and possible leakage of
the batteries - for men who want to be penetrated by female partners,
it is best to discuss this with them first, and have them there when you
choose it. Some partners may be delighted by the surprise chance to
be on the other end of the action, while some may be completely taken
aback by the idea and could offend you by refusing to take part.
Similarly, they may be offended that you have already made a decision for
them regarding such an intimate activity and refuse outright - clean
all toys thoroughly with toy cleaner after use, and store in a dry,
breathable bag such as a pillow case, shirt or other breathable
cotton
Love Dolls
These can be of the novelty type
intended purely for amusement, such as the 'Little Daisy' inflatable cow,
and serious love dolls intended to simulate intercourse. Low range: Novelty
dolls are great for birthdays, buck's nights, hen's nights, or simply as a
joke gift, and relatively cheap to buy. These range from small
animal-shaped dolls that are not intended for actual use, to life-sized
dolls that are penetrable and can be used as a real love doll if
desired. These love dolls are often made of a synthetic material,
can have up to three holes, and have printed cartoon-style faces.
While it is possible to use the life-sized dolls, their performance isn't
as satisfying as with middle- and upper-range dolls. They often come
with free trial lubricants. Prices generally range from $20 to
$50. Mid-range:
The next step up from novelty dolls is the mid-range love dolls,
which are designed to be used to simulate intercourse. While still
being made from synthetic materials like novelty dolls, these love dolls
often come with special features such as vibration, more defined genitals,
'realistic' passages that are made from real-skin material,
three-dimensional faces, free trial lubricants, or solid hands and/or
feet. If you're looking for a first love doll, these are a good
place to start. Prices generally range from $80 to $150. Upper-range: The most
realistic of love dolls, and with the most features. These love
dolls are for people who intend to use them as a serious sex aid, although
occasionally they may be bought for birthdays or buck's nights as a group
present that everybody chips in on. Upper-range love dolls can hold
the most weight, and often are able to perform particular sexual
positions. They generally have three-dimensional mannequin-style
heads, which can also feature teeth, soft lips, realistic hair, and
glistening eyes, and are more lifelike than the mid-range and lower-range
dolls. The bodies are often made from soft vinyl or latex, which
tends to be more durable, and often have solid hands, feet, breasts and
genitals. With molded real-skin style vagina's, anuses and breasts
similar to handheld masturbators and pussies being quite common in the
upper-range dolls, the upper-range dolls provide a much more enjoyable
experience than their cheaper counterparts. Most upper-range dolls
also come with vibrating bullets or eggs, which can further enhance
sensations, and these and the molded stimulators are usually
removable. Prices vary, beginning at around $200. As we cannot
stock all deluxe love dolls, if there is a particular one that you are
after, contact us and we'll do our best to arrange one for
you.
Several recommendations from Sexy Toy Box that will help you
get the most out of your love doll: - use a lubricant with your doll,
as this will make the toy more comfortable and enjoyable to use - use a
toy cleaner to clean any contact areas of your doll. This will help
to break down any bodily fluids or bacteria that may become trapped inside
the toy. Alternatively, use a condom and water-based lubricant when
enjoying your toy, although it is still recommended that you clean it with
water afterwards - do not store your doll in a sealed bag. If you
do, any moisture on the doll will not be able to escape and may lead to
degradation of the material, or a possible build up of bacteria -
remove batteries from the toy when not in use, otherwise they may go flat
or leak - never use Vaseline or any petroleum-type lubricant. It
will degrade the material.
Pussies
& Male Masturbators
Ladies get a huge range of
fun toys - vibrators, clitoral stimulators, and dongs - but why should
they have all the fun? Male masturbators include pussies (imitation
vagina's), asses (imitation anuses), mouths and various other penetrable
stimulators. They come in a vast array of shapes, sizes, colours and
textures, can be made from various materials, and are often molded from
famous porn stars such as Jesse Jane, Kaylani Lei, Tera Patrick and Carmen
Luvana. Many masturbators are made from various real-skin materials,
such as Cyberskin, UR3, Futurotic, Loveclone and Magic Flesh, as well as
various types of jelly. Sizes range from pocket-sized sleeves to
full-sized casts of the buttocks and genitals, the latter of which are
usually highly realistic and casts of stars. The smaller hand-held toys
consist of a single entrance, and a passage down the length of the
toy. Most pussies and male masturbators have textured passages for
greater stimulation, and often the mid-range and upper-range varieties
come with removable bullets or eggs that add vibrations to the
experience. Other less common masturbation toys that we stock
include a foot with a vaginal passage in the heel, a textured pad for
masturbation, and a solid, amazingly realistic-feeling cast of Jenna
Jameson's breasts.
Several recommendations from Sexy Toy Box that will
help you get the most out of your male masturbator: - use a lubricant
with your toy, as this will make it more comfortable and enjoyable to
use - use a non-alcohol-based toy cleaner before the toys initial use,
and after every use. This will help to break down any bodily fluids
or bacteria that may become trapped inside the toy. Alternatively,
use a condom and water-based lubricant when enjoying your toy, although it
is still recommended that you clean it with water afterwards. Most
toys are submersible in warm, clean water once the batteries and
electronic parts have been removed. Alcohol-based toy cleaners may
degrade the real-skin materials that many dolls are made of - do not
store these toys in a sealed bag. If you do, any moisture on the toy
will not be able to escape and may lead to degradation of the material, or
a possible build up of bacteria - remove batteries from the toy when
not in use, otherwise they may go flat or leak - never use Vaseline or
any petroleum-type lubricant. It will degrade the
material.
Condoms
If you're old enough to be at
this page, chances are you already know what condoms do. At Sexy Toy
Box, we don't sell 3, 6 or 12 packs of condoms - they're just not
economical for you to purchase online. Instead, we sell 144 packs
which, for all but the luckiest of people, will see you through the better
part of a year. Buying condoms in bulk has many advantages - it
saves you money, it means you rarely need to purchase them, the checkout
girl at your local supermarket won't need to know how often you're having
sex, and you'll be able to avoid that horrible realisation that you've run
out of condoms at the most crucial time! We sell various types of
condoms in bulk; Ansell Regular - Standard length, girth and thickness,
made from natural rubber latex Four Seasons Regular - Standard length,
girth and thickness, made from natural rubber latex Four Seasons Naked
- Standard length and girth, but with thinner walls allowing more
sensation. Natural rubber latex Four Seasons Extra Strength - Standard
length and girth, but with thicker walls for added safety and
control.
All of the condoms that we sell are stored in a dedicated
cupboard in a darkened room, completely sheltered from heat, sunlight and
moisture, with air conditioning to ensure that they never get too hot,
which can damage the material.
Several recommendations from Sexy Toy Box: -
keep condoms in a dry, dark place, below 25 degrees Celsius - never
reuse condoms, or use ones that have been previously opened but not
used - avoid handling condoms with long nails or sharp rings, and if
oral sex occurs prior to intercourse, change the condom in between
stages. This helps to minimise breakage - using condoms when
enjoying love dolls and masturbators can help make cleaning easier, while
also reducing the chances of infection if the toy has not been adequately
cleaned - never use Vaseline or any petroleum-type lubricant. It
will degrade the material.
Penis
Pumps
There are three main types of
penis pump, masturbation, erection and enlarging pumps, each of which is
more suited for a particular purpose: Masturbation Pumps:
Relatively cheap pumps, usually consisting of a cylinder, soft seals, and
a vacuum bulb. These pumps are designed for pleasure, not enlarging,
which comes from the suction that it applies to the penis. Some
masturbation pumps come with vibrating units to enhance sensations.
They can also be used for assisting erections, although this isn't their
primarily purpose. Erection
Pumps: Low- to mid-range pumps consisting of a
cylinder, soft seals and a vacuum bulb or similar. The suction in
the pump draws blood into the penis, engorging it and assisting in
achieving an erection. Any arousal that occurs whilst using the pump
is also likely to contribute to this. By putting on a cockring
immediately after pumping, an erection can usually be maintained for a
greater duration than usual. These pumps can also be used for
masturbation, and sometimes come with vibrating units for this
purpose. Enlarging
Pumps: Upper-range and of a higher quality than the
masturbation and erection pumps, these generally consist of a cylinder and
soft seals as with other pumps, but generally have a trigger or
alternative means of removing pressure from the cylinder, and always have
a vacuum gauge. These gauges are essential because they allow you to
know exactly what pressure you're currently at, and enlarging requires
regular use at very specific pressures. Using a cockring directly
afterwards assists in maintaining your results.
Several
recommendations from Sexy Toy Box to help you get the most out of your
pump: - use a lubricant, water-based ones would be most appropriate as
they are easier to clean off using water. Regardless of the type of
pump you're using, lubricants help to provide a better seal against the
sleeve, while increasing comfort and improving results. It also
allows your skin to move into the pump without stretching the skin or the
seal - enlarging must be a regular exercise in order to achieve and
maintain results. Think of it like going to the gym - it takes time
to build up results, and if you stop going those results gradually
diminish. - do not pump to higher vacuum than the instructions
recommend; this will not give you better results faster, and it may cause
damage - if it hurts, stop! This means that something isn't being done
properly, or you have a preexisting injury. If it feels
uncomfortable, check that you've used lube and that you haven't created
too strong a vacuum - when using a cockring, put it on before you
release the vacuum, but after you've finished pumping. Cockrings are
designed to limit the blood flow in and out of the penis; if you put one
on before pumping, you'll only be hindering your own results - Results
will differ from person to person. If you are a smoker or heavy
drinker, your results may be influenced more
substantially. Similarly, stress can have a negative
effect too - You shouldn't have sex within 2 hours (on either side) of
enlargement-pumping, as this causes the blood to leave the penis.
This also includes masturbation - Enlarging may be ineffective if you
have vascular disease or a similar ailment, as the blood vessels are
likely to have hardened - Just relax and enjoy, and again, if it hurts,
stop immediately - use a toy cleaner before the initial use, and after
every use. This will help to break down any bodily fluids or
bacteria that may become trapped inside. - do not store pumps in
a sealed bag. If you do, any moisture will not be able to escape and
may lead to degradation of the material, or a possible build up of
bacteria - remove batteries when not in use, otherwise they may go flat
or leak - it often helps to have a warm shower before use, as warmth
promotes blood flow. Pumping in a warm room will also help this -
a better seal can be attained if the area where the seal contacts the
penis is shaved, although in most cases a lubricant should be
sufficient - never use Vaseline or any petroleum-type lubricant.
It will degrade the seals - often more effect is seen on girth rather
than length. Generally it is agreed that the girth of a penis has more
impact on sexual performance anyway
How they work: The cylinder,
with the lubricated sleeve attached, is placed over the penis. When
the bulb/trigger is pumped, air is extracted from the cylinder, creating a
vacuum. This vacuum then draws more blood into the penis, engorging
the tissue and helping to cause an erection. When enlarging, this
vacuum is kept for a period of time, which is believed to cause expansion
of the tissue and result in an increase in size. By placing a
cockring at the base of the penis (behind or in front of the testicles,
depending on the ring) the blood is trapped in the penis, helping to
maintain the erection. The quick release button allows
the vacuum to be rapidly equalised and the pump to be
removed.
There are two main methods of pumping for
enlargement: 1:
Similar to weight lifting, the vacuum is held for 5-10 minutes,
released, and repeated a number of times. A session would normally
last 45-60 minutes. 2: Pump to the
recommended vacuum, or to the maximum before discomfort begins, and hold
there for the duration of the session, usually around 35-45 minutes once
your routine is established.
Do not start performing sessions of
the full length immediately. Pump for 10-15 minutes initially, 4-5
times per week, and gradually increase this to the full session length as
you get used to pumping.
Bondage
& Discipline
The full range of bondage and discipline products involves whips,
chokers, leads clamps and many other things. While we do believe in
sexual exploration, Sexy Toy Box is a friendly, fun and welcoming place
for everyday people to buy their toys, and doesn't stock 'serious' bondage
gear. Our range includes the more intimate products, such as
handcuffs (metal and fluffy), silk ropes and blindfolds. These are
intended more to add an element of naughtiness rather than for full-on
bondage. All of our handcuffs come with keys, but have safety levers on
the side so that the wearer can remove them if need be. It may sound
silly, but Murphy's Law says that if you drop something important (such as
handcuff keys!) it will undoubtedly fall through the only crack in your
floor. Our blindfolds are smooth and soft, similar to the travel mask
type. Again, they can be removed by the wearer if they feel
unsafe. Japanese Love Rope is a soft, non-marking rope that can be used
for generally tying each other up, or as wrist and ankle cuffs. They
will not leave rope burns or marks like traditional rope, and have a
bit of give to them. Of course, in taking part in any form of
restraint, please make sure both partners have full consent, and full
trust in each other. Playful restraint is supposed to be just that -
the enjoyment should come out of not knowing what treats are coming next,
rather than being at the mercy of your partner. If things ever go
beyond your comfort level, agree that you can stop anytime before
beginning. We should stress that whenever you're going to experiment
with restraints and discipline, you and your partner agree on a safety
word. When restrained, some people may feel uncomfortable and wish
to stop, and a safety word that would not normally be used in the bedroom
("bananas" is a common one) will help here.
Hygiene
Products (Toy Cleaner, Douches)
One of the most important
aspects of any sexual activity is hygiene. We cannot stress the
importance of cleaning your toys, and ensuring that bacteria are not able
to breed on toys or be transferred between partners.
Toy Cleaners: Bacteria
allowed to grow on toys can lead to irritation, infection, and in females,
thrush. Some of the soft materials used for adult toys, in
particular real-skin type materials, are often very porous, meaning
that they can absorb bodily fluids and the lubricants that you use.
Cleaning these with soap and water is likely to only clean the surface,
and may fail to get deep down into the pores of the material. In
addition, soap can build up on toys over time, causing irritation.
We recommend an antibacterial toy cleaner, which will help kill
microorganisms on the surface or your toy, as well as getting into the
pores to help eliminate bacteria. While alcohol-based toy cleaners
certainly do the job in this respect, they can also damage
particular materials, potentially drying out materials such as
Cyberskin. Non-alcohol-based toy cleaners, which generally contain
triclosan as the active antibacterial agent, are gentler on your toys, and
can be used on all toys without risk of destroying them. We stock
several triclosan toy cleaners. We also stock Pjur Med CLEAN, a high
grade, extremely gentle toy cleaner. While more expensive, we
strongly recommend this product as it is also great for cleaning and
freshing up intimate regions before and after intercourse, making the
whole experience more enjoyable for both partners. A warning that
Listerine isn't the best choice of toy cleaner (would you put mouthwash on
your bits?), and methylated spirits is worse. They are both very
harsh products on your toys and body. To use toy cleaner, simply
spray onto the toy, let it sit for a while (30 seconds should be plenty),
and then wipe off using a clean wipe or tissue. For cleaners without
a spray head, a few drops on a clean cloth or tissue will suffice, and it
can just be wiped over the toy. Cleaning male toys can be a bit
harder - rinse with water first, then do your best to clean the inside as
mentioned above, then rinse again.
Douching: Few people
consider it, but douching is an essential part of preparing for any form
of anal play. It removes traces of waste from along the anal
passage, making the process more hygienic. A douche is simply a tool
for spraying liquid (usually warm water) into the anal passage, which is
then expelled, resulting in cleaner fun. To use a douche, fill the
bulb/container with tepid water, approximately at body temperature (37
degrees Celsius). Once full, insert the tip of the tool into the
area to be douched (it is possible to use for vaginal douching, but never
use one douche for both areas) and squeeze the bulb to spray in the
water. Expel the fluid, and repeat as desired/until water is
clear. You should use a water based lubricant on the tip of the
douche in order to make insertion more comfortable. Do not use very
hot or very cold water for douching - cold water is a shock, and hot water
will burn you in a place thats very hard to put an ice-pack on. As
with toys, we recommend using a toy cleaner on the douche after every
use. Never use a single douche for cleansing in both passages, or
between partners. Vaginal douching is also a good idea, although
less necessary and less common than anal douching.
Several
recommendations from Sexy Toy Box regarding hygiene: - do not share
toys, especially if they haven't been cleaned throughly between
uses. If you must share toys, put a condom over it and change the
condom between users - to make cleaning easier, use a condom with toys
where appropriate. A condom inserted over a dong or vibrator will
not reduce the sensations, and means that rinsing with water will usually
suffice. Wearing a condom with male toys just as in intercourse will
likewise be useful - toys should only be used in one passage, do not
use anal toys and then use them for vaginal penetration. Again, if
you must do this put a condom over the toy and change in between
passages - keep your toys in a clean cloth bag, pillowcase, or
shirt. Simply leaving them on a surface will allow them to get
dirty, and putting them in an airtight container traps any moisture
present. If you want to store a dong or vibrator in a sock, use must
use new socks, as old ones will transfer any fungi or bacteria present in
the socks, which you probably don't want
Lubricants
There are three main types
of lubricant; water based, silicone, and oil-based, each of which have
certain advantages and disadvantages.
Water based: These have
been on the market for a very long time. They're safe on all types
of toys, relatively inexpensive, suitable for vaginal and anal
intercourse, and are condom- and latex-safe. The downside of water
based lubricants is that they tend to evaporate and sometimes become tacky
as this occurs. If not cleaned off of toys properly, water based
lubricants may leave a sticky residue. Most water based lubricants
are made of glycerin with various additive, and may contain menthol for
warming sensations, polyquaternium to make them extra slippery, or
flavours for a bit of extra fun. People with sensitive skin may find
that water based lubricants cause irritation.
Silicone: Silicone
lubricant has many uses - it can be used on all non-silicone toys, during
anal and vaginal intercourse, as well as being great for massage oil,
making latex shiny, increasing the vivacy of tattoos, adding a sheen to
your hair, and even lubricating locks, zips, bolts and hinges around the
home! It is colourless, odourless, non-toxic, non-staining and great
for sensitive skin. Much smoother than water based lubricants,
silicone lube is more expensive than water based lubricants too, although
the extra expense is well worth it. Silicone lubricant will not dry
out. In addition to lasting longer, only a fraction of the amount
needs to be used, generally only several drops, so even a small bottle
will last years. It doesn't go tacky, doesn't irritate, is condom
and latex safe, and isn't absorbed by the skin. We stock Pjur
silicone lubricant, an extremely high grade silicone lubricant made from
medical grade silicone and created by chemists. To dispel a few
common myths, it should be pointed out that silicone lubricant is not pure
silicone - it is a silicone-based lubricant, much like Vaseline is a
carbon-based lubricant. So while it is made from silicone, it is in no way
similar to the silica found in sand and you cannot get silicosis
from using it, much in the same way you can't get black lung from
using Vaseline. They are referred to as silicone lubricants because
the 'official' name of the product is half a sentence in itself.
Silicone lubricants are a safe, more hygienic alternative to water based
lubricants.
Oil-based: As the name
suggests, oil-based lubricants are generally petroleum-related products,
similar to Vaseline or baby oil. It isn't quickly absorbed by the
skin, and usually lasts longer than water based lubricant. However,
oil-based lubricants destroy condoms and many types of material used in
toy production, and is essentially only useful for intercourse. That
said, petroleum just wasn't made for genitals, and silicone lubricants are
superior to oil-based lubricants in every way. Sexy Toy Box, and
most adult stores, don't stock oil-based lubricants for these
reasons.
Varieties: Lubricants can be
flavoured, scented, or contain special ingredients to increase stamina,
arousal, or add many sensations. Warming lubricants undergo a
reaction that releases heat when they contact moisture, so blowing on them
or skin contact will produce a warming effect, reducing the initial shock
of cold lubricant. Usually only available in water based lubes,
these also increase the realism of using toys that simulate sex.
Flavoured lubes are usually water based and made of glycerin, with added
flavours to enhance oral sex. Anal lubricants can be water based,
silicone or oil-based, and tend to be thicker than usual and longer
lasting. This extra lubrication is necessary as the anal passage
doesn't produce its own lubrication. They are usually fine to use
for vaginal use as well, but some anal lubricants contain desensitising
agents that are not recommended for this purpose. Additives that are
often used include menthol for a cooling effect, as well as horny goat
weed and other natural products. At present Sexy Toy Box doesn't
stock all of the types listed here, but we plan to quite
soon.
Lotions
& Potions
This category comprises of
various lotions, gels and orally-taken products that are designed to
increase arousal, stamina, etc.
Delay Sprays: Delay
sprays are used on the head of the penis to decrease its sensitivity,
helping to prevent premature ejaculation and provide more control over
when climax occurs. There are a range of these available on the
market, which differ in many respects such as ingredients and effects, and
each have individual usage
instructions.
Arousal Gels: Containing
products such as menthol or peppermint oil, these are usually applied to
the clitoris and/or nipples to draw the blood to the surface, increasing
the sensitivity of nerve endings. They are great for women who may
have difficulty climaxing, and increases the sensations that your toys can
provide. The effect of these products vary from person to person
depending on how sensitive you are. They're for external use only,
and should not be applied to male genitals (but nipples are okay).
If too much is applied, it is necessary to wash it off and wait a while
for the effect to be reduced.
Aphrodisiacs: These help to
create arousal. They consist of known foods and herbs that
traditionally have been believed to cause arousal, such as horny goat
weed. They can be in tablet form, or as a liquid to add to your
drink, or many other forms. Essentially, they are designed to make
you horny and increase your desire to have sex. You must always pay
attention to the instructions, as incorrect use may yield undesirable
results.
Anal Toys
The anus is a well known
erogenous zone for both males and females. It contains many highly
sensitive nerve endings, and in men the prostate is also known to be
highly pleasurable when stimulated. Many types of anal toys are
available, each with differing purposes and applications. They can
be made of jelly, latex, silicone, neoprene, glass, metal... more or less
anything. Inflatable varieties, ones that ejaculate, and prostate
stimulators are also available
Butt plugs: Butt plugs
generally have a bulb, a thinner section near the base, and a base.
When inserted into the anus, the guardian sphincter closes around the neck
of the plug. It can reflexively open again, and close, creating
feelings of pressure. They are commonly used in preparation for anal
sex as they warm up the muscles, as anal sex should not be attempted
without warming up prior to penetration. The bulb holds the plug in
place, and the base prevents the toy from being inserted too far. It
should be noted that frequent prolonged used of butt plugs may reduce the
elasticity of the muscles around the anus.
Thin dildos and other tools: If
you want to simulate anal intercourse, butt plugs are not the recommended
toy. Instead, a thin, dildo-type toy should be used, one without a
sharp point. These are available in many, many varieties, and may be
textured, smooth, flexible or rigid.
Anal beads: Consisting of a
series of beads, usually graduating in size, attached to a cord, anal
beads are inserted into the anus (with the handle facing out) and
gradually pulled out, often during climax. This causes rapid opening
and contracting of the surrounding muscles, and stimulates the nerve
endings in the area. When looking for anal beads, avoid ones with
large raised seams and made from hard material. We recommend not
using anal beads if they do not have an adequate mechanism to stop them
being entirely inserted into the anus, and they are difficult to remove
(like anything that is put in too far). Such mechanisms include
loops or large bulbs. It should be noted that one of our couples
kits does contain a set of beads without an adequate mechanism, which we
don't recommend using, but decided to stock the product due to great range
of other toys included in it. Anal beads can be jelly, silicone,
vibrating or non-vibrating.
Prostate stimulators: Designed for use by men, these are generally
fairly non-threatening toys that are used to deliver vibrations and
stimulation to the prostate glad. The primary purpose of the
prostate gland is to produce semen, but can also be massaged or stimulated
to trigger a climax. Many men want prostate stimulation, but would
prefer to do this with a toy that doesn't resemble a penis. They
generally vibrate, and may have additional components to stimulate the
testicles. We recommend the Men's Pleasure Wand by
Doc Johnson. Prostate stimulation is quite healthy, but never use a
toy with a sharp, pointed end for this. To find the prostate, the
best way to reach it (without a toy) is to insert a well-lubricated and
preferably gloved finger into the anus. Pressing the finger against
the wall nearest to the penis, with the finger inserted approximately up
to the second joint, a sensitive area should be able to be located.
The prostate feels like a firm, walnut-sized mass, which can be pressed
(or vibrated) in a regular rhythm to bring about climax.
Other anal toys: It is
possible to get a myriad of anal toys, including horse and pig tails,
celebrities heads, and more. We do not currently stock these,
partially because of the fine line that may be crossed in pretending to be
animals during sexual play.
Several recommendations from Sexy Toy
Box regarding anal play: - always use lots of lubricant. The anal
passage does not generate its own lubrication, and you could do damage to
sensitive tissue if you have none at all. A thick water based
lubricant is good, but a long-lasting silicone lubricant will reduce the
need to reapply - never insert any sharp objects, due to thin,
sensitive tissue present - Use toys that have a base or mechanism
designed to stop it from traveling all the way into the body. These
are difficult to get out and may require medical extraction - take it
easy. Anal play shouldn't be rushed, or forced. It may be
sensitive, but it shouldn't hurt - if anal play hurts, it isn't being
done properly. Give the sphincter time to relax, use a lot of
lubricant, a small toy, and go slowly - sterilise all toys before and
after use, and never share toys. If you must share toys, slip a
condom over them and change it in between partners, but nonetheless clean
it afterwards with a good toy cleaner - douche before use. This
removes any remaining matter in the area, making anal play more
hygienic - frequent and prolonged use of butt plugs and other large
anal toys may reduce the elasticity of the sphincter - never put
anything in there unless you know how you can get it out! Wireless
bullets, and small toys without firm handles or cords are a no-no, as you
may never see them again - for hygiene purposes, non-porous toys are
easier to clean and provide less opportunity for bacteria to breed.
Silicone, Silagel and glass are all particularly good for this reason -
for beginners to anal play, it is best to start with a small, slim toy,
and take your time. Give yourself time to warm up and get used to
the sensations before using any larger toys or beginning penile
penetration - keep your toys in a clean cloth bag, pillowcase, or
shirt. Simply leaving them on a surface will allow them to get
dirty, and putting them in an airtight container traps any moisture
present. - 'waterproof' toys should not necessarily be
submerged. Obviously solid toys with no electronic components should
be fine, but as a general rule 'waterproof' refers to a toy as being able
to be used in the shower or cleaned with water, not used
underwater
Cockrings
Cockrings are
predominantly intended to help prolong erections, and to make them harder,
increase control, and heighten orgasms. They bind the penis and/or
the testicles, restricting blood flow and trapping it in the penis.
They can help maintain erections after orgasm too, making them useful if
the male orgasms first, and the female wishes to continue until she can
climax too. Cockrings can be made of jelly, rubber, latex, silicone
or metal. They should be loose enough to fit comfortably, but snug
enough to work. If a cockring is on too tight, it may cause numbness
or damage to the penis. Pain, numbness, discolouration or swelling
are signs that your ring is too tight and you should discontinue use
immediately. Wearing a cockring for too long (more than 20-30
minutes) may have similar effects, and can cause damage to the
capillaries. For this reasons, be sure to remove a cockring before
going to sleep after sex. Cockrings are not recommended for people
with vascular disease, as the blood vessels may be hardened from the
disease and is likely to be ineffective and possibly harmful.
Cockrings may be worn over the penis or behind the testicles,
depending on the ring. Some are adjustable allowing a perfect fit
and easy removal. If a ring is purely for use after a pump, a simple
(ie. non-vibrating and without stimulators) cockring is recommended, such
as plain black rubber rings, the Magic Ring, or Julian's Stud Ring. To
put on a cockring, we recommend using a small amount of lubricant around
the inside of it so that you don't stretch the skin.
Couple's
cockrings also may come with various stimulators, including nodes that rub
on your partners clitoris and anus, as well as vibrating bullets to
deliver extra stimulation to both partners. These are more useful as
a toy for enhancing sex, rather than to delay ejaculation, as the
additional stimulation may counteract the delaying effect of the
cockring. These rings are generally much stretchier than 'proper'
cockrings, and are usually made of jelly or silicone, but sometimes they
can be made from real-skin materials.
In addition to the plain and
stimulating cockrings, fetish rings also exist. They are worn for a
fetish look, and are generally build out of black leather and
chrome/steel. Currently, Sexy Toy Box doesn't stock
these.
Waterproof cockrings should not necessarily be submerged in
water. Obviously solid toys with no electronic components should be
fine, but as a general rule 'waterproof' refers to a toy as being able to
be used in the shower or cleaned with water, not used underwater
So, you've just visited our
site looking to buy a few treats for you and/or your partner, and there
are just too many things to try? Vibrator kits contain a plethora of
neat little toys that you can use alone or with your partner, which is a
great way of sampling each type of toy in order to work out which ones you
like. Items that you'd expect to find in these kits include
vibrators, mini vibes, sleeves, cockrings, ticklers and small anal toys,
but the actual contents vary from kit to kit. These sets are
particularly suited for weekends away or times when you plan to have a
night to yourselves, and there are many different combinations that can be
made with each kit to provide extended foreplay and some variety in
lovemaking. The best way to work out what kit is suited for you is
to have a look at them, as the contents of each brand varies.
Some couples kits come with lubricant and toy cleaner, but for the
ones that don't we recommend that you purchase some, as it will make the
entire experience much more enjoyable. A good quality toy cleaner
will help break down any bacteria or residue that is left on the toys, so
that you can hygienically use them again next time. It is recommended
that batteries be removed from the toys after use so prevent leakage and
draining of your batteries, and the toys should be stored in a way such
that they are able to dry and breathe adequately (ie. not in a sealed
plastic bag). Also a toy cleaner after use is recommended. Note
that toys labeled as 'waterproof' can be safely used in the shower, but
should not be submerged in water at any time.
Bullets
& Clitoral Stimulators
The category of bullets and
clitoral stimulators is quite a wide scope, with many, many varieties
available. The one thing that they all have in common is that they
are primarily (but not always soley) designed to deliver intense
stimulation directly to the clitoris. They range from small,
vibrating bullets or eggs that can be held against the clitoris or used
internally, to handheld wands with flickering tips. Functions also
vary widely with simple on/off bullets towards the lower range, and
multifunction sound-activated ones towards the upper ranges.
Bullets and eggs come in many differents sizes, ranging from the size of a
headache capsule (Jesse's Petite Treats - it may be small, but its
insanely powerful) to ones the size of small eggs, with every size and
shape along the way. Some are simply vibrating units attached to a
hand controller, while others may be coated in jelly and have ticklers or
other stimulators. Most bullets are driven by hand controls,
although remote controlled varieties exist and can make boring occasions
all the more interesting.
Finger ticklers are a subcategory
of clitoral stimulators, and are essentially small clitoral stimulators
such as bullets or textured sleeves that are worn over the finger to
enhance masturbation. They are attached to the finger via a ring or
a loop, usually made from jelly or silicone, and can pass vibrations
directly to the point of contact, or through the finger itself.
To
get the most out of your toy, Sexy Toy Box recommends: - use a cleaner,
as this will break down any bacteria or residue on the toy and help to
prevent infections from occurring. Alcohol-based toy cleaners may
degrade real-skin materials, but any jellies, silicone and plastic will
not be harmed. - batteries should be removed from toys after use, to
prevent flattening and possible leakage of the batteries - clean all
toys thoroughly with toy cleaner after use, and store in a pillow case,
shirt or other breathable cotton - 'waterproof' toys should not
necessarily be submerged. Obviously solid toys with no electronic
components should be fine, but as a general rule 'waterproof' refers to a
toy as being able to be used in the shower or cleaned with water, not used
underwater
Orgasm balls are generally
small, hollow balls, containing smaller weights. They are inserted
into the vagina, and when any movement (for example, walking) occurs, they
vibrate, causing sensations as the inside and outside balls rattle against
each other. In addition, they can be used to strengthen the pelvic
floor muscles, which is especially useful after childbirth. They
can be made from hard plastic, metal, or may be coated in jelly or
silicone, and their sizes vary from about 1cm to about 6cm in
diameter. The smallest of these tend to be solid and quite heavy,
and do not contain an interior weight. These are particularly suited
to strengthening the pelvic floor muscles as they require a good deal of
muscle-work to hold onto and move around. More often, however,
orgasm balls are used as an arousal toy, as moving around results in
vibrations during everyday activities - the more active you are, the more
you'll enjoy them. This is also useful as a prelude to intercourse
or toy use, as it warms up the muscles and gives your natural lubrication
time to begin working.
Pelvic
Floor Exercises: When inserting orgasm balls, you
should curl you tail bone towards your pelvic bone, lengthening the spine
and making the abdominal muscles fall towards the stomach. This
contracts the muscles, holding the balls in place. Contrary to most
other toys, it is best to start with larger or mid-sized orgasm balls, and
work your way down to the smaller balls as you progress, because it takes
more strength to retain smaller balls. When starting out, lie on
your back and practice in that position, and work your way up until you
can do the exercises standing up, holding the balls in place with your
muscles.
To get the most out of your toy, Sexy Toy Box
recommends: - be adventurous! Nobody else will know that you have
them in unless its completely silent and you're wiggling your bum - use
a small amount of lubricant to insert the balls, but not too much or else
they'll be hard to hold onto - use a toy cleaner after each use, paying
particular attention to any fabric cords - clean all toys thoroughly
with toy cleaner after use, paying particular attention to any material
cords, and store in a pillow case, shirt or other breathable
cotton
Clitoral pumps are small
suction units, which are designed to arouse and stimulate the clitoris.
Most clitoral pumps also have a vibrating function, which increases the
sensations given. Some clitoral pumps also come with attachments
that can be fitted over the unit, which may have nodules or other
stimulators, or could be larger and therefore able to stimulate a greater
area than the original attachment. They have several main uses, and
generally all clitoral pumps are suitable for each use.
Direct stimulation:
Clitoral pumps literally suck on the clitoris (and sometimes the
surrounding regions, depending on the toy). This simulates oral sex,
and is a great alternative to traditional external vibrators.
Increasing clitoral
sensitivity: Much like penis pumps draw blood
into penis, clitoral pumps draw blood into the clitoris, increasing
circulation around nerve endings and temporarily resulting in more
sensitivity. While this happens to some extent with unaided arousal,
clitoral pumps are often able to give this result much more fully and
quickly, making them a great toy for foreplay, potentially increasing your
enjoyment from oral sex, masturbation or external toy use. Many
people find that the sensitivity of the clitoris can decrease with age,
and clitoral pumps are often used as a means of restoring this sensitivity
temporarily. For further sensitivity, an arousal gel can also be
applied prior to pumping.
Nipple
pumping: Most clitoral pumps can also be used for
nipple pumps, temporarily making nipples erect and fuller, while at the
same time being pleasurable. This is often used for foreplay, or to
make it easier to attach nipple clamps (see below). As with the
clitoris, nipple pumping increases the sensitivity of the nipples, and can
also be used for drawing out inverted nipples.
To get the most out of your toy, Sexy Toy Box recommends: -
using a small amount of lubricant can help the pump form a better airtight
seal against the skin. This reduces friction, allowing the skin to
move freely and increasing comfort and sensations. Similarly, a
better seal will be formed on recently shaven areas - clean all toys
thoroughly with toy cleaner after use, and store in a dry, breathable bag
such as a pillow case, shirt or other breathable cotton - an arousal
gel applied to the clitoris will help to increase sensations further, but
apply small amounts slowly as over-sensitivity can be less fun than
under-sensitivity! - do not use clitoral pumps on broken or irritated
skin, nor on areas that have recently recovered from being broken or
irritated, as this may aggravate the condition. Similarly, if you
have a clitoral (or nipple) piercing, make sure that the area has
completely healed before use, and remove the jewelery before pumping -
do not use clitoral pumps internally as it could be potentially
harmful
Butterflies are the generic
term for clitoral stimulators that are worn by females on a harness.
They're generally coated in a soft jelly or silicone, vibrate, and have
adjustable straps that are worn around the top of the legs, holding the
stimulator against the clitoris. Despite the name, they are not all
butterfly-shaped; some are in the shape of dolphins, beavers, bears,
tigers and flowers, although butterflies are the most common variety,
hence the name. While most tend to simply be strap-on vibrators that
can be worn discretely as you go about your day-to-day activities, or even
during intercourse, a small proportion of butterflies also feature small
penises that that allows for simultaneous internal and external
stimulation. Commonly, while the body of the butterfly is
stimulating the clitoris, the wings or other appendages can flutter
against the surrounding area, providing all-over stimulation.
Butterflies are mainly controlled by a wired hand control, which allows
variations in vibrational speed and cycling through functions, some of
which include vibration, pulsation and escalating speeds, although some
are remote controlled. Most of the lower-range butterflies have a
wire connecting the unit to the hand control, but some (usually the mid-
to upper-range toys) are wireless and can be controlled from a distance by
a partner.
To get the most out of your
toy, Sexy Toy Box recommends: - use a small amount of lubricant to
enable the toy to move freely, especially for penetrative butterflies -
use a toy cleaner after use. Alcohol-based toy cleaners will not
damage the materials that butterflies are made of, but if you plan to use
it on any real-skin toys, we suggest using a non-alcohol-based toy
cleaner. - store your toy in a pillow case, shirt or other breathable
cotton - remove batteries after use to prevent them from going flat or
leaking
Sleeves
& Penis Extensions
As a general description,
sleeves and extensions are enhancements that are worn over the penis,
increasing sensations or other aspects of lovemaking when used.
Sleeves can be made of many soft materials, including jelly, silicone,
Cyberskin and other real-skin materials, and can add to the girth, length
or texture of the penis. Some of the more basic sleeves are covered
with nodules, ticklers or ribs which add to the stimulation of both
partners (particularly the female) when worn, while other sleeves are
designed to increase the length of the penis. These are a great
alternative to using a penis pump, and the results are instant. In
addition, the thin material of the sleeve that covers the shaft also help
to improve control, allowing sex to last longer. For this reason,
extension sleeves are often used by men who are concerned with the size of
the penis, to increase the duration of intercourse, and also just for
something different. Extension sleeves are available in a range of
sizes and materials, and are almost exclusively non-vibrating
products. They consist of a solid tip that is firm but soft, and a
thin sleeve that is inserted entirely over the penis, with the remaining
length sometimes able to be cut off.
To get the most out of your toy, Sexy Toy Box recommends: -
use plenty of lubricant - use a toy cleaner after use.
Alcohol-based toy cleaners are fine on jellies, but they will degrade
real-skin materials, so we recommend using a non-alcohol-based toy
cleaner. - store in a pillow case, shirt or other breathable
cotton
Most adult toys should be
operated on cheaper, general purpose batteries. Using heavy duty
batteries, or high amperage rechargeables could overwork the motor/s, and
burn them out. General purpose batteries are cheaper, and you'd
rather go through lots of batteries than lots of toys. Remove
batteries after use, because batteries in any battery-operated product
will drain and could result in leakage.
Jelly: A special type of
intimate rubber or PVC that usually coats a hardcased vibrator or
bullet. Firmness varies from very soft to very firm. Cheaper
toys will generally use jelly, although more expensive ones quite commonly
do as the quality of jelly types varies too. While quite easy to
clean, jellies tend to be more porous than other materials and will
require a bit more attention when cleaning. Both alcohol and
non-alcohol-based toy cleaners can be used on jellies. Silicone: Can be soft of
firm, but usually more towards the firm side. Silicone toys are less
porous, making them more hygienic. Both alcohol and
non-alcohol-based toy cleaners can be used on silicone, but silicone
lubricants are not recommended with silicone toys as they can make them
porous. Latex: Soft
and non-porous, but not commonly encountered. Also not suitable for
those who are allergic to latex. Both alcohol and non-alcohol-based
toy cleaners can be used on latex toys. Real-Skin: Many varieties of
real skin exist, usually each major company has its own brand.
Popular types of real skin used in soft vibrators include Cyberskin, UR3,
Love Clone, Life-Like, Better-than-real and Futurotic. They feel,
and usually look, quite realistic. Only ever use non-alcohol-based
toy cleaners on real-skin materials, as alcohol-based toy cleaners may dry
them out or degrade the material. Sensafirm: A unique material made
from a soft, flexible rubber outer layer that is precision-bonded with a
silicone substrate, providing a hard inner core but a soft outside.
Sensafirm is superior to traditional solid rubber and creates a sensual
exterior surface that is velvety smooth to touch, yet firm to use.
It's not quite as soft as cyberskin, but is much more durable - they both
look and feel real, but in different
ways.
Toy
Storage
The best way to store your
adult toys is to store them in a cotton bag or shirt. Cotton is a
breathable fabric allowing your toys to stay dry and aired, and helps to
keep your toy cleaner when it is not in use. Keeping toys in plastic
or other non-breathable materials may make them sweat, which is unpleasant
and may provide a suitable environment for bacteria to breed. When
not in use, your toys (in a suitable fabric) should be kept in a dry, dark
place such as a cupboard or draw. Clean all toys before storing -
don't trick yourself into the old 'I'll clean it later' situation, because
you're likely to just leave it there.
Whilst it may seem logical to
store your toy in the packaging it arrived in, this is one of the worst
means of storage. This is because toys are likely to sweat in the
packaging and go slimy, as the water, toy cleaner and lubricants that may
be absorbed (to very small extents!) by the toy slowly seep out. In
a breathable fabric, these fluids can dry quickly and easily and sweating
is avoided.
We also recommend that, like with all battery-operated
toys, you don't store your products with the batteries inside them - the
batteries will go flat quite quickly, and if you forget about your toy
they may even leak, destroying the toy.
At Sexy Toy Box, we store all of our products in a darkened,
insulated room that is maintained at a cool temperature. No direct
sunlight enters the room, preventing any colour-fade that may occur, and
ensuring that all of the toys we sell are in tip-top
condition.
Waterproof Toys
Okay, so this bit is
confusing, as the definition of 'waterproof' in adult toys isn't quite the
same as the universal definition. In general, if a toys packaging
does not state that the product is waterproof, you should avoid getting
water on it. Toys that arecompletely waterproof, and can hence be
submerged, but as a general rule dongs, pussies and other toys that will
not absorb water and do not have electronic components tend to be
completely waterproof and therefore submergable. Toys labeled as
waterproof can get wet without damaging them, allowing use in the shower,
application of copious amounts of lubricant and cleaning by spraying with
water or wiping with wet cloths. They should not be completely
submerged in water or any other liquid however, as water can still seep
past the rubber seals and into the battery cases. This may or may
not occur - it depends on the toy itself, how tightly the battery case is
sealed, the condition of the rubber seals, and the depth (pressure) of the
liquid that it is in. There are very few vibrators on the market
that are completely submergable. In other words,
you can take your rubber dildo scuba diving, but your waterproof vibrator
must wait until the shower afterwards.
